Resumo:
Polímeros sintéticos como biomateriais
Neste projeto utilizamos ferramentas fotoquímicas na produção e caracterização de sistemas poliméricos de interesse na área de biomateriais. Atualmente, estudamos a reticulação de polímeros hidrofílicos na produção de hidrogéis com potencial aplicações biomédicas. São estudados os mecanismos moleculares envolvidos nos eventos de sua formação, suas características e propriedades mecânicas. Além disso, utilizamos a técnica de eletrofiação para produção de submicro- e nanofibras antecipando suas propriedades avançadas de alta área superficial e alta porosidade. Também faz parte deste projeto o estudo de modificações estruturais e de superfície de polímeros sintéticos na produção de materiais com propriedades diferenciadas para aplicações avançadas no campo de biomateriais. Synthetic polymers as biomaterials
In this project we use photochemical tools to produce and characterize polymeric systems of interest in the area of biomaterials. We are currently studying the crosslinking of hydrophilic polymers to produce hydrogels to be used in biomedical applications. The molecular mechanisms involved in these processes are studied and the characteristics and mechanical properties ofthe products are determined. Furthermore, we use electrospinning technique to produce submicro- and nanofibers anticipating its advanced properties of high superficial area and high porosity. It is also part of this project the study of structural and surface modification of synthetic polymers to produce materials with differentiated properties for advanced applications on the field of biomaterials.
